The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

BEWARE : SPOILERS

Lauryn: There is so much to say about this book! It’s one that’s trending right now for how good it is and I totally agree!

The main character Addie LaRue is amazing and a good female lead. She’s clever, kind, and her character development throughout the 500 years that she’s lived was very good.

The plot was amazing and very unique. Most of the time I can guess a lot of endings and infer what happens, but I was genuinely surprised by the end, which is always fun. I didn’t see the ending coming at all, the way that Addie sacrificed her freedom and stayed with Luc just so that Henry could get out of his deal and live was astounding. There were so many connections and the attention to detail was really good. I also enjoyed how the author included events during history that Addie lived through because I was able to connect it with what I was currently learning.

I don’t know whether I like Henry or Luc better though. Henry seemed to be the perfect person that Addie was looking for, he could see her for everything that she was and they fit so well together. But then there was Luc who was the actual devil and the only person who lived with Addie throughout her eternal life, and the one person that Addie kept going back to. But their relationship was obviously toxic because Luc was in love with her but he didn’t actually know how to love.

My favorite part of the entire book was at the end when Addie promised to stay with Luc for however long he wanted her. Which for Luc, he assumed that it would be forever since he loved her, but Addie promised to herself that since she had eternity, one day she would break Luc to the point where he gave her her freedom. And I thought that was so strong of her and cool.

All in all, this book was extraordinary and I really loved it!
